It’s 9 a.m. on a Saturday morning in September. All is calm. We enjoyed the cool night with windows open. I am sipping through my first cup of coffee.
My daughter is still lost in sleep amidst a mound of pillows and her favorite blanket in the big bed upstairs. My son is watching a DVD of School House Rock (Conjunction Junction, what's your function? Hookin' up words and phrases and clauses....), a feast of fun learning that I could only catch in bits and pieces on the Saturday morning TV of my younger days.
Home on a Saturday. It’s humble. Messy. Comfortable, safe.
Sometimes we have to leave early on Saturday mornings for lessons or errands of some sort. Not today. Today I relish our rest together.
